To study
role theory, I suggest that you read Handy (1993; chapter 3). If you have time, you could study Katz and Kahn (1978), a classic on role theory; their work endorses an open systems perspective. More on this topic later. Major concepts in role theory include
role conflict,
role overload, and
role ambiguity.
