How to check whether my Independent Study topic is appropriate?

To check whether my Independent Study topic (Hull U.) is appropriate (i.e. acceptable and feasible), try to go through the following steps (using the Emerald website as an example):



Step 1: visit an academic publisher  website(e.g. Emerald) and choose the accounting and finance category

Step 2: choose a journal  (from the accounting and finance category) you prefer 

Step 3: type the key words you are interested in (e.g. capital structure, risk, investment) to find out relevant articles to study

Step 4: Find out specific examples on topics, research questions and research methods used in the relevant academic journal articles  and check whether you could do similar things for your IS assignment.



*** you probably need to go through these steps a few times with other journals from other academic publishers in your checking effort.
