 On basic ethics concepts and ethics form handling: a note

Updated admin news (April 9, 2024): Students are required to complete the Ethics application online (https://sunderland.ethicsreview.org.uk/ ) within two weeks after their proposal is approved by their supervisor and as a supervisor, you are requested to review their ethics form in the system before the UK Ethics reviewer for review and final approval. The turnaround time may take 2 to 3 weeks. Student’s research should be started after their ethics form is approved by the UK Ethics team.

Also study the basic concepts of ethics in social research (a video) and informed consent (a video). {a related topic is debriefing in research}

In the diagram, note the role of the gatekeeper in case study research (see an article related to gatekeeper).

Another note is on renegotiation informed consent.
