A geographical imagination matrix to study city representation

A geographical imagination (GI) matrix to study city representation: the matrix is as follows:

The horizontal dimension has three perspectives: unitary perspective, pluralist perspective and coercive perspective. The vertical dimension involves 2 categories: weak in historical dynamics awareness; strong in historical dynamics awareness.

Unitary
Pluralist
Coercive
Weak in historical dynamics awareness
I
II
III
Strong in historical dynamics awareness
IV
V
VI

With the GI matrix, one can locate a particular city representation version (re: Hongkongers refuse to go back) onto the matrix. This is illustrated as follows:

Main questions to examine with the GI matrix
